ChatGPT Like a Pro: Tricks to Get Those "Wow" Results
Unlock the AI magician's toolkit and transform basic tricks into powerful, personalized solutions.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a magician.
I was captivated by the mystery surrounding performers like David Copperfield—masters of illusion who seemed to defy reality itself.
Then along came Penn and Teller, who flipped the script by revealing how the tricks were done while still keeping the magic alive. They taught us something profound: understanding the mechanics doesn’t diminish the wonder—it enhances it.
AI feels a lot like magic. Even when you know how the "trick" works, it’s your unique approach that creates those unforgettable “Wow!” moments.
In today’s lesson, I’ll share some of my favorite “tricks of the trade” in AI. But if you want to achieve truly extraordinary results, you’ll need to go beyond imitation and make these tricks your own. Let’s dive into how you can do just that.

Use ChatGPT Like A Pro
Prompt engineering with tools like ChatGPT is more than just an intellectual exercise—it’s a means to a productive end. Understanding how to craft prompts is essential, but it’s not enough. To truly leverage AI effectively, you need a structured workflow that minimizes redundant work and maximizes output.
One of the easiest ways to streamline your process is by reusing proven prompts. When paired with examples (a technique called Few-Shot Prompting), these prompts can guide the AI to deliver consistent, specific, and reliable results.
However, the key to sustained productivity lies in saving and codifying these prompts into a repeatable system. This approach not only reduces time spent recreating the same instructions but also ensures a consistent tone, style, and quality across tasks.
By establishing a workflow—whether through tools like AIRPRM, PromptForge, or clipboard managers like PasteBot—you elevate prompt engineering from a skill into a scalable, time-saving practice that becomes a core part of your AI-driven operations.
Create Your ChatGPT Prompt
Pick a repetitive task: I’ll use picking a newsletter title but you could choose creating a social media post or a weekly status report or any other task you repeat often.
Then create your prompt. I used the following prompt. I wrote it in Markdown, because ChatGPT handles Markdown better than plain text. Notice I also included a role, objective, and instructions.
Also, note that I included examples to guide the prompt, examples give ChatGPT context on what constitutes a good subject line.
# Role
You are a world-class newsletter writer and editor of the caliber working at The Morning Brew, The Hustle, or 1440.
# Objective
You will come up with 10 potential newsletter subject lines that are designed to increase open rates, once you have that list you will come up with an A/B test of the subject lines with slight variations to improve open rates.
# Instructions
Do not echo the prompt!
-Step 1: Ask me for a description of the newsletter issue
-Step 2: Create 10 potential headlines
-Step 3: Then consider if there is an alternative to the ten headlines and create 10 a/b pairs for the newsletter send.
# Headline Rules and Conventions
- Experiment often: Try different styles, tones, and formats to see what resonates with your audience.
- Keep it short: Aim for concise and punchy subject lines that are easy to read and understand at a glance.
- Keep it simple: Avoid complex language or convoluted ideas; focus on a single, clear message.
- Help people make money: Emphasize financial benefits or opportunities in your subject lines to grab attention.
- Use assertions rather than questions: Declarative statements tend to perform better than questions in subject lines.
Leverage news: Incorporate timely, newsworthy topics or developments to pique readers' interest.
- Offer solutions: Highlight how your newsletter content can solve problems or improve readers' lives.
- Avoid overusing conflict: While conflict can be attention-grabbing, it's not always the most effective approach.
- Limit explainers: Focus on the key benefit or take away rather than explaining too much in the subject line.
- Do not make people think too hard: Ensure your subject lines are easy to understand and do not require too much mental effort to process.

- We interviewed 20+ vending machine owners. Here is how much they make.
- 🏦 Stripe Treasury is a huge deal

Create Your ChatGPT Workflow
Now you have your prompt. You can use PromptDen PromptForge as I do, it keeps my prompts for ChatGPT, Google Gemini, MidJourney, and Claude. It allows me to replace the variables while preserving the examples I wanted to use in a few-shot prompt. I just click a few buttons and the prompt is rendered in ChatGPT.
PromptForge in ChatGPT
You can use the method above or you can take this one step further by codifying this into a ChatGPT workflow. Let’s take this to the next level.
Codify Your Prompts into ChatGPT CustomGPTs
Say that your examples are reports and they are too long for a prompt or at least impractical. You could take that prompt and use that as instructions for a CustomGPT in Open AI.
Rather than having a super long prompt to cut and paste every time you can create a CustomGPT. You can create copies of your examples. For example, prin the example of a good report or other example and upload them to your knowledge base. Then rather than copying the prompts you can just
